It consists of&nbsp; 14 partners representing research institutes, technology providers and industrial partners (including 7 SMEs), from 5 EU member states, i.e. Germany, Greece, France, Italy and Netherlands. The research unit \u201cICT applications for production (IKAP)\u201d prepares, develops and realises methods and tools to support co-operative, inter-organisational enterprise networks. The research concentrates on efficient and effective collaborative design and production processes by applying innovative information and communication technologies (ICT).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department Intelligent ICT for Co-operative Production deals with the application of ICT to develop and implement co-operative networks. Within this context, the acquisition, provision and transformation of process and product related information is considered. The expected project results are compliant with BIBA\u2019s core long-term strategy. The ICT-based solutions will be used to improve the competences as well as enhance and distribute worked out in-house technologies and methods, especially knowledge based engineering (KBE), PLM systems and knowledge acquisition. BIBA is a founding member of the Open Group IoT work group. There, it is actively involved in the standardisation of IoT protocols and data models (O-MI, O-DF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main roles in the project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> BIBA coordinates the COALA project and is responsible for the lead of WP9 (Project Management). Besides, it will lead WP2 (Augmented prescriptive quality analytics for factory workers). It is not only influential on, but also has a leading role in the development of the design discipline. With over 2,000 students and 200 researchers, the Faculty of Industrial Design is now one of the world\u2019s leading design schools. Over 7,000 engineers graduated from the Faculty since it was founded in 1969. The Faculty is also leading in many subfields of design research, with more than 100 senior researchers and 120 PhDs. The conducted research is user-centred and design-driven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expected project results support the ultimate objective of Department of Sustainable Design Engineering (SDE) to fulfil joint social, economic and sustainability demands. The resulting methods and tools will strengthen SDE\u2019s abilities to support designers and companies in successfully developing user-centred agile manufacturing solutions in which the added value of artificial intelligence technology are optimally exploited. The scientist contributing to the administrative and professional management of the COALA projects have extensive experience with human machine interaction in the context of smart cyber-physical systems and robotics are related to spin off companies (e.g. SenseGlove B.V., Anything Connected BV.) through the incubator at YesDelft!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main roles in the project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TUDelft is responsible for leading the work packages WP3 (Smartening workers with AI competencies and AI-assisted on-the-job training) and WP8 (Communication). TUDelft will develop human-driven AI methods for recommendation systems operating with small data sets in order to support agile manufacturing processes. ICCS was established in 1989 by the Ministry of Education of Greece in order to promote research and development activity in all diverse aspects of computer and telecommunications systems and their applications. <span><a onclick=\"read_toggle(1638008100, 'Read More', 'Read Less'); return false;\" class=\"read-link\" id=\"readlink1638008100\" style=\"readlink\" href=\"#\">Read More<\/a><\/span>\n<div class=\"read_div\" id=\"read1638008100\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Information Management Unit (IMU), which participates in the project, is a multi-disciplinary unit engaged in research and development activities in Information Technology Management. IMU is staffed with three faculty members, seven post-doctoral senior researchers and six researchers. Research in IMU addresses the whole lifecycle from data analysis to computation to decision. Since its establishment, IMU has actively participated in 45 research and development projects, of which 8 are currently active. Our work falls along three strands: Analyse, Compute, Decide. The research activities of IMU focus, among others, on: predictive &amp; prescriptive analytics, proactive computing, recommender systems, semantic web, situation awareness, knowledge management and enterprise &amp; business information systems. IMU is active in five application domains: factories of the future, electronic governance, digital health &amp; well-being, digital innovation, sustainable &amp; green economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main roles in the project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ICCS leads WP5 (Adoption and Evaluation) and WP7 (Dissemination and Exploitation). Moreover, ICCS leads T2.1 (Prescriptive analytics for process and product quality), which deals with the concept and related AI methods and algorithms for predictive quality. In this Task, ICCS will perform a state-of-the-art analysis of AI-supported predictive quality and will develop the Prescriptive Quality Analytics component of the COALA platform will perform advanced data analytics. This work will be based on ICCS\u2019s prior work in the H2020 UPTIME project. ICCS will also lead T5.2 (Evaluation of the use case implementations), and T7.1 (Dissemination of results). The Director of IMU of ICCS, Professor Gregoris Mentzas, is the Scientific Manager of COALA, while Dr Alexandros Bousdekis, Senior Researcher of ICCS, is the Dissemination Manager. Finally, ICCS will actively promote and disseminate the results of COALA in the FoF and ICT communities through the publication of project\u2019s research results in international journals, workshops, conferences and books. It will bring together more than 200 researchers from universities, engineering schools and research organizations (e.g., from IMT, IRIT, LAAS-CNRS, TSE in Toulouse, and also from international research labs, e.g., MIT or Brown University in the United States), and about thirty companies (Airbus, Thales, Continental, etc.). <span><a onclick=\"read_toggle(1991394947, 'Read More', 'Read Less'); return false;\" class=\"read-link\" id=\"readlink1991394947\" style=\"readlink\" href=\"#\">Read More<\/a><\/span>\n<div class=\"read_div\" id=\"read1991394947\" style=\"display: none;\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ANITI scientific project is aimed at developing a new generation of artificial intelligence called hybrid AI, combining data-driven machine learning techniques with symbolic and formal methods for expressing properties and constraints and carrying out logical reasoning. This approach will provide better guarantees in terms of reliability, robustness and the ability to explain and interpret the results of the algorithms used, while ensuring social acceptability and economic viability. The strategic application sectors targeted by ANITI are mobility and transportation, and robotics\/cobotics for the industry of the future. One of the major research topics investigated by ANITI concerns the design of cognitive assistants with advanced dialogue, interaction and monitoring skills to increase the performance of design, decision and industrial production-related activities. This topic is perfectly in line with the objectives of COALA. The team participating to COALA is part of the Artificial and Natural Intelligence Toulouse Institute (ANITI) coordinated by the University of Toulouse \u201cUniversit\u00e9 F\u00e9d\u00e9rale Toulouse Midi-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main roles in the project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ANITI leads Tasks 2.4 and 3.3 dedicated to the design of the \u201cWHY engine\u201d for explainable digital assistant responses which will include the development of components about data analytics results and processes and the integration of reasoning about the analysis results, and investigate how it can be used to support on-job training. ANITI will lead Task 7.3 focussing in particular on contributions on AI Ethics. ANITI will contribute to the dissemination and exploitation related activities through the publication of scientific papers in reputed conferences and journals as well through ANITI industrial partners network. In this project Citt\u00e0 Studi, in closed collaboration with Piacenza SpA, will test the AI system during the academia education programme and will support all the partners developing this system in order to create a usefull tool for textile training. <strong><\/div><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Fratelli Piacenza S.p.A.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piacenza is an SME manufacturer of fine woollen fabrics for fashion and luxury markets. Based in Italian textile district of Biella, where all its production is realized, and it is one of the oldest textile industries of the world, founded in 1733 and from then on owned by the Piacenza family. <span><a onclick=\"read_toggle(1534526556, 'Read More', 'Read Less'); return false;\" class=\"read-link\" id=\"readlink1534526556\" style=\"readlink\" href=\"#\">Read More<\/a><\/span>\n<div class=\"read_div\" id=\"read1534526556\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main roles in the project: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piacenza will provide the SME textile industrial test bed, where to implement COALA pilot. In particular, Piacenza will provide its experience from the participation into intelligent factories and factories of the future projects Texwin, Artisan, iSurf, Psymbiosys and Nimble as well as from FI-PPP FITMAN project, where its pilot included the application of FIWARE. Piacenza effort in COALA will be devoted to Update on state of the art &amp; requirements definition and to Pilots Development and Data Collection. The design aspect includes the idea of sustainability. In addition, the research work is characterised by a close connection to reforms and developments in vocational education and training. Against this background, interdisciplinary, participatory and international research and evaluation approaches are practiced which the ITB realizes together with the University, institutional and industrial partners and other institutions relevant to the design of work, technology and education. Among the focal points are: Design of work and technology, work and qualifications, teaching and learning in vocational education and training, school development and quality of teaching, work and technology as an object of pre-vocational education and training, occupations and vocational training systems and innovation and industrial culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main roles in the project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ITB is involved in the entire project process with research into technical development from a vocational science perspective, curricular requirements at the educational level and operational implementation in education and training. Based on the research results, the ITB is successively developing a teaching-learning concept for in-company initial and continuing training. The association involves industrial players such as ABB S.p.A, Ansaldo Energia S.p.A, Autorit\u00e0 di sistema portuale del Mar Ligure occidentale, Cetena S.p.A, DGS s.p.a, The Italian Institute of Technology (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, IIT), Iren S.p.A., and Stam s.r.l.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of the competence center is to offer services concerning:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digital strategy, allowing enterprises (especially SMEs) to evaluate their level of digitization as well as their technology potential through the development of a set of tools;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training, for the promotion and dissemination of competences related to the Industry 4.0 paradigm aiming to empower SMEs in achieving their industrial goals in the evolving European scenario;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation to RD&amp;I collaborative projects to foster the open innovation transition of enterprises and SMEs as well as technology transfer initiatives;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Competence Center is a strategic tool to support companies in facing the challenges brought by the fourth industrial revolution, creating synergies between, regional, national and European entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to private and public projects, Stam can count on a network of over 500 organizations Europe-wide, mostly SMEs.
